SIMON BORG, a farmer and tenant in the Swedish community of Brushy in Williamson County, was born in Sweden but was raised in this country. He is the son of August Borg in Jonah and came to Texas at the age of six with the rest of his family. He helped his father with farming until he began to farm on his own. This was in 1909 when he started to lease land in Jonah, for a few years, and then moved to McCulloch County for a short time. There he leased land from his father-in-law for a while, then came back to these tracts where he now lives. Borg was born in Forserum, Småland, in 1885. In 1909, he married Mary Carlson from Jonah. She is the daughter of the couple S. A. and Elin Carlson and was born near Manor, Texas, in 1888. She later moved to the Jonah area with her parents, where she grew up and went to school. There were eight brothers and sisters in her family; she was the oldest. The couple’s three children are: William, born in 1910, Irma 1911, and Kermit 1913.
The family’s spiritual home is the Free Church in Brushy.
